Error 721

EA Sports EA FC (FIFA)

Severity: Moderate

What it means

EA FC Error 721 means your connection to EA's match server was lost.
This usually comes from EA server instability or a brief drop in your own internet.
Check EA server status and switch to a wired connection if it happens repeatedly.

Affected Models

  • PC (EA App, Steam)
  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox Series X/S

Common Causes

  • EA match server instability during peak hours
  • Momentary drop in your internet connection
  • High packet loss between you and the EA server
  • Router timing out idle connections during loading screens
  • VPN routing adding latency and instability

How to Fix It

  1. Check EA server status

Go to ea.com/en-gb/news/ea-server-status and check the status of EA FC Online.
If the servers are degraded or down, Error 721 is happening to everyone — wait it out.
Peak times (evenings and weekends) have the most server strain.

  2. Switch to a wired connection

Plug your PC or console directly into your router with an ethernet cable.
Wi-Fi packet loss is the most common cause of repeated mid-game disconnections.
Even a brief Wi-Fi stutter during a loading screen can trigger Error 721.

  3. Flush DNS and restart router

On PC: press Win+R, type cmd, run as Administrator, and type: ipconfig /flushdns.
Restart your router by unplugging it for 30 seconds.
This clears stale routing and can improve connection stability.

  4. Open EA / PSN ports on your router

Log into your router admin panel.
Forward TCP 443, TCP 3659, UDP 3478-3479 to your PC or console.
    This reduces NAT-related disconnections.

  5. Disable VPN or gaming accelerator

Disconnect any VPN or gaming accelerator (e.g. Exitlag, WTFast).
These add extra hops that can increase latency past EA's timeout threshold.
Test without them and reconnect only if it helps.
