P1
Hisense Dehumidifier
Severity: MinorWhat it means
Hisense dehumidifier P1 means the water collection bucket is full and the unit has automatically stopped to prevent overflow.
Empty the bucket, reinsert it firmly until it clicks, and collection resumes automatically.
How to Fix It
-
Pull out and empty the water bucket
Slide the bucket out from the front of the Hisense dehumidifier.
Carry it to a sink and empty completely.
Wipe the inside dry with a cloth. -
Reinsert the bucket firmly until it clicks
Slide the bucket back into the unit and push until you feel it seat or click into place.
A bucket that is only partially inserted keeps the float switch in the raised (full) position and P1 will persist. -
Check the float switch for mineral deposits
Inside the bucket housing is a float switch.
Hard water causes calcium deposits on the float which can keep it stuck in the raised position even after emptying.
Rinse the switch area with water and gently free any stuck float. -
Set up gravity continuous drainage
Find the drain port at the rear of the Hisense dehumidifier (usually a small round port).
Attach a standard garden hose to drain continuously to a floor drain.
With continuous drainage active, the bucket never fills. -
Ensure the drain hose descends continuously
Gravity drainage requires the hose to run downhill without any upward sections.
If the hose rises at any point, water cannot flow and the bucket fills as normal.
Frequently Asked Questions
Hisense dehumidifier P1 error but bucket only half full — why?
A float switch stuck in the raised position can trigger P1 before the bucket is genuinely full.
Clean the float switch area with water and ensure the float moves freely.
Hisense dehumidifier draining continuously but P1 still appears?
Check that the drain hose connection is sealed and the hose descends continuously.
If water is backed up in the hose, the bucket level rises and P1 triggers.
How often does the Hisense 50-pint dehumidifier bucket fill?
In high humidity conditions (above 70% RH at 27°C), a 50-pint unit can fill a full-size bucket in 12–18 hours.
In moderate conditions, collection is much slower.
Continuous drainage eliminates bucket management.
