FL
Midea Dehumidifier
Severity: MinorWhat it means
Midea dehumidifier FL error means the water bucket is full and the unit has stopped to prevent overflow.
Empty the bucket, ensure it is reseated correctly, and the dehumidifier will restart automatically.
How to Fix It
-
Remove and empty the water bucket
Slide or lift the water collection bucket out of the front or bottom of the unit.
Take it to a sink and empty it fully.
Wipe the bucket dry before reinserting. -
Reinsert the bucket correctly
Slide the bucket back into the unit firmly until it clicks or seats fully.
If the bucket is not fully inserted, the float switch inside the bucket housing will continue to read full and FL will persist. -
Check and clean the float switch
Inside the bucket housing, there is a small float switch that rises with the water level.
If the float is stuck in the raised position (due to mineral deposits or debris), the unit reads full even with an empty bucket.
Rinse the float switch area with clean water. -
Set up continuous drain mode
If you empty the bucket frequently, consider setting up continuous drainage.
Most Midea dehumidifiers have a drain port at the rear.
Attach a garden hose and direct it to a floor drain — the unit drains automatically without filling the bucket. -
Check the continuous drain hose is not kinked
If you are already using continuous drainage and still getting FL, the drain hose is likely kinked, elevated above the drain port, or clogged.
Ensure the hose runs downhill from the dehumidifier to the drain.
Frequently Asked Questions
Midea dehumidifier shows FL but bucket is empty — what to check?
Check the float switch inside the bucket chamber.
The float may be stuck in the raised position.
Rinse the chamber with water and manually lower the float to confirm it moves freely.
How often do I need to empty the Midea dehumidifier bucket?
Emptying frequency depends on room humidity and the bucket size.
In very humid conditions (above 70% RH), the bucket can fill within 12–24 hours.
Setting up continuous drainage eliminates the need to empty the bucket at all.
Midea dehumidifier FL light on even after I emptied and refitted the bucket?
Firmly push the bucket all the way in until it clicks.
If FL still shows, clean the float switch.
If the problem persists, the float switch assembly needs replacing — contact Midea support.
