Affected Models

- Whirlpool WDF520PADM
- Whirlpool WDTA50SAHZ
- Whirlpool WDT750SAKZ
- Whirlpool WDF330PAHB
Common Causes
- A button is physically stuck due to debris or moisture
- Sticky residue (dishwasher detergent, food splash) holding a button down
- Moisture inside the touchpad ribbon connector
- Worn touchpad membrane (typical in dishwashers over 6 years old)
How to Fix It
-
Press each button on the control panel.
Press every button in turn — Start, Cancel, Power, each cycle button, each option button.
Listen for the beep and watch the display.
A button that does not beep, or beeps continuously, is the stuck one. -
Clean the panel surface.
Wipe the entire control panel with a barely damp cloth.
Pay extra attention around the stuck button — sticky detergent or food residue often holds buttons down.
Do not spray cleaner directly on the panel. -
Power cycle the dishwasher.
Turn off at the wall socket or breaker for 5 minutes, then restore power.
Press Start with the door open — F2E2 should clear after the panel reads no buttons depressed. -
Allow to dry for 24 hours if needed.
If F2E2 follows steam from a recent wash escaping the door, leave the door open and the power off for 24 hours.
Trapped moisture in the touchpad evaporates and may resolve F2E2. -
Book service for touchpad replacement.
If F2E2 persists after cleaning and a 24-hour dry-out, the touchpad assembly needs replacement.
Whirlpool touchpads cost USD 70–150 plus labour.
Total typical cost USD 200–300 fitted.

Why did F2E2 appear right after a wash?
