Clg
Samsung Dryer
Severity: CriticalWhat it means
Samsung dryer Clg (also shown as Cg on some panels) is a Vent Blockage test result.
Samsung's wording: 'The duct system cannot exhaust properly.'
Clg is the most severe blockage result — the vent isn't moving air at all.
Cleaning the lint filter alone won't fix it; the full exhaust vent needs cleaning, often professionally.
Affected Models
- Samsung DVE45 / DVE50 / DVE52 series electric dryers
- Samsung DVG45 / DVG50 / DVG52 series gas dryers
- Samsung DV9000T / DV9100T Smart Dial series
- Samsung BESPOKE AI laundry dryers
- Samsung FlexDry and WashTower units (shared dryer module)
Common Causes
- Exhaust vent packed with lint at the outdoor termination
- Vent run too long (over 25 feet) with no professional cleaning history
- Multiple 90° bends in the vent path slowing airflow over time
- Outdoor vent flap stuck closed (bird's nest, ice, paint)
- Vent crushed flat behind the dryer or inside the wall cavity
How to Fix It
-
Clean the lint screen.
Pull the screen out and clear all visible lint.
If you use dryer sheets, rinse under warm water to remove residue that builds up invisibly.
This won't fix Clg on its own but it's prerequisite for everything else. -
Pull the dryer out and disconnect the duct.
Pull the dryer forward enough to access the duct at the back.
Loosen the clamp and pull the flex duct off the dryer's vent port.
Vacuum out the dryer's port AND inside the duct itself. -
Check the outdoor termination.
Walk outside to the wall vent.
Open the flap by hand — it should move freely.
Bird's nests, dryer lint mats, ice in winter, or just stuck paint are all common.
Clear anything blocking the flap. -
Hire a professional for long vent runs.
If your exhaust runs more than 25 feet OR has multiple 90° bends OR goes through a wall cavity OR up to a roof termination, hire a professional vent cleaner.
They use drill-powered brushes that reach the full length — household vacuums can't. -
Re-run the Vent Blockage test.
After cleaning, run Samsung's test again to confirm: 'Press POWER to turn the dryer on and within 5 seconds, press and hold Adjust Time Up + Dry Level until InS or In appears. Press and hold START/PAUSE.'
A result of '0 or End' means: 'The duct system is normal and unblocked.'
When to Call a Professional
Clg is a fire-risk-level blockage.
Stop using the dryer until the full vent path is clear.
If the vent run is long or you can't reach the outdoor termination, hire a professional vent cleaning service before the next cycle.
Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I have my dryer vent professionally cleaned?
Every 12 months is the practical answer for most households, more often if you have a long run, multiple bends, a roof termination, or a household that does a lot of laundry.
A clogged vent isn't just a Clg code — it doubles the time clothes take to dry, raises your electricity bill, stresses the heating element, and is one of the most common house-fire causes in the kitchen-and-laundry category.
Worth the maintenance call.
