CE-34675-7

Sony PlayStation

Severity: Moderate

What Does This Error Mean?

CE-34675-7 means your PlayStation failed to install a game, application, or update. The installation stopped before it could complete. This is usually caused by insufficient storage space or a corrupted download.

Affected Models

  • PlayStation 4
  • PlayStation 4 Slim
  • PlayStation 4 Pro

Common Causes

  • There is not enough free space on the PS4's hard drive to complete the installation
  • The downloaded game or update file has become corrupted
  • The hard drive is failing and cannot write new data reliably
  • The installation was interrupted by a power loss or the console being turned off
  • An extended USB storage drive was disconnected during an install

How to Fix It

  1. Check available storage space. Go to Settings > Storage > System Storage. You need enough free space for the full installed game size — not just the download size.

Some games require 2x their size during installation as working space. A 50 GB game may need 100 GB free.

  2. Delete the failed installation and try again. Go to Settings > Storage > System Storage > Applications, find the failed game, and delete it. Then start the download and install fresh from your Library.

Corrupted install files cannot be repaired — deleting and redownloading is the only fix.

  3. Do not put your PS4 in Rest Mode during installs. Make sure Rest Mode is not activated while games are installing. Interrupted writes are a common cause of CE-34675-7.

If you need to use Rest Mode, go to Settings > Power Save Settings and enable Remain Connected to the Internet so downloads can resume, but be aware interrupted installs can corrupt.

  4. If using extended USB storage, check that it is firmly connected. A USB storage drive that disconnects mid-install will cause the installation to fail and potentially corrupt the game data.

Use a high-quality USB cable and keep the drive in a place where it will not be bumped or disconnected.

  5. Rebuild the PS4 database. Turn off the PS4, hold the power button for 7 seconds to enter Safe Mode, and select Rebuild Database. This fixes file system errors that can block installations.

Rebuild Database is safe and does not delete your games or saves. It takes 5 to 30 minutes depending on how much data is on your drive.

When to Call a Professional

If CE-34675-7 appears for every game and your drive has plenty of space, the hard drive may be failing. A failing hard drive cannot reliably write installation data. Consider replacing the PS4's internal hard drive or seeking professional service.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does deleting a game delete my saved progress?

No. Save data is stored separately from the game application on the PS4. Deleting the game removes only the game files — your saved progress stays safe. You can verify this by going to Settings > Storage > System Storage > Saved Data.

How do I free up space quickly on my PS4?

The quickest way is to delete games you have finished or rarely play. Go to Settings > Storage > System Storage > Applications and delete from there. You can redownload any purchased game from your Library at any time — you never lose access to it.

Can I install games to a USB drive instead of the internal hard drive?

Yes — if your USB drive is set up as Extended Storage (250 GB or larger). Go to Settings > Devices > USB Storage Devices and format it as Extended Storage. After that, you can choose which drive to install new games to.
