How to Fix It

Delete games you are not currently playing. Go to Settings > Storage > Games and Apps, select games you want to remove, and delete them.

Deleting a game does not delete your save data. You can always redownload it later from your Library.
Clear your capture gallery. Go to Settings > Storage > Capture Gallery and delete old screenshots and video clips you no longer need.

Video clips especially take up a lot of space. A single hour of gameplay recording can use several gigabytes.
Move games to an external USB hard drive. Connect a USB drive with at least 250 GB, then go to Settings > Storage and move games to the external drive.

PS4 games can run directly from an external drive. PS5 games must be on the internal SSD to play but can be stored externally.
If the error persists after freeing space, rebuild the database. Boot into Safe Mode by holding the power button for 7 seconds, then select 'Rebuild Database.'
