E0
Bosch Induction Cooktop
Severity: MinorWhat it means
Bosch induction hob error E0 means no compatible cookware is detected on the active cooking zone.
Place a flat-bottomed induction-compatible pan directly on the zone and the error will clear.
How to Fix It
-
Place cookware directly on the zone
Ensure an induction-compatible pan or pot is placed flat on the cooking zone that triggered E0.
The pan must fully cover the zone indicator — small pans on large zones may not be detected. -
Verify the pan is induction compatible
Induction hobs require cookware with a magnetic base.
Test with a fridge magnet — if the magnet sticks firmly to the pan base, it is induction compatible.
Glass, aluminium, and copper pans are not induction compatible. -
Check for a flat pan base
Warped or severely curved pan bases reduce the contact area and can prevent detection.
Place the pan on a flat surface and check if the base rocks.
Badly warped pans need replacing for reliable induction use. -
Clean the hob glass surface
Food residue or moisture between the pan and the hob glass can interfere with the induction sensor.
Clean the hob surface and the pan base with a dry cloth before placing the pan. -
Use the correct zone for the pan size
Most Bosch induction hobs have separate zones with different power levels and sensor sizes.
Use a zone that closely matches your pan diameter.
Using a small pan on a large zone can trigger E0. -
Restart the hob
Switch the hob off at the control panel and then turn it back on.
If the error was caused by a temporary sensor issue rather than incompatible cookware, a restart will clear it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Bosch induction hob E0 error — my pan worked before but now shows E0?
A previously working pan showing E0 may have developed a warped base, which reduces contact with the hob surface and defeats the induction sensor.
Check the base flatness and clean both the pan and the hob.
E0 on Bosch induction hob with cast iron pan — why?
Cast iron is induction compatible but its rough base can reduce contact area.
Ensure the cast iron pan is placed flat and centred on the zone.
Enamelled cast iron usually works better than bare cast iron on glass hobs.
Can I use an induction disc adapter to fix the E0 error?
Yes.
An induction heat diffuser disc placed between a non-induction pan and the hob will conduct heat.
However, this reduces efficiency and the zone may still show E0 depending on the disc material.
