Braun Thermometer
Severity: MinorWhat it means

How to Fix It
-
Bring the thermometer indoors
If the thermometer was stored in a cold location — a car in winter, an unheated room, or a cold bag — bring it inside and place it on a surface at room temperature (18–25°C / 64–77°F).
-
Wait 30 minutes before using it
Unlike Er1 (where the probe cools in 1 minute), warming a cold probe to operating temperature takes longer.
Wait at least 30 minutes after bringing the thermometer indoors before attempting a measurement. -
Do not warm the thermometer artificially
Do not hold the probe in your hand to warm it, place it near a heater, or use it immediately after taking it out of a cold bag.
Uneven warming causes measurement errors.
Allow it to reach room temperature naturally.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Er2 common in winter?
Yes.
Er2 is most frequently reported during winter when the thermometer has been in a cold car, left on a windowsill, or brought in from outside just before use.
Store the thermometer at room temperature year-round to avoid this.
