FL

Honeywell Portable Air Conditioner

Severity: Minor

What it means

Honeywell portable AC error FL means the condensate water tank is full and the unit has stopped to prevent overflow.
Drain the tank via the rear drain port and the unit will resume automatically.

How to Fix It

  1. Power off the unit before draining

Press the Power button to turn off the Honeywell portable AC.
Opening the drain port while the unit is running can cause water to splash or spill.

  2. Place a container under the rear drain port

Position a shallow bowl or bucket directly under the drain port at the rear bottom of the unit.
The port is usually a small rubber cap or a threaded plug.

  3. Remove the drain cap and drain completely

Pull out the rubber cap or unscrew the plug and let the water drain fully.
Honeywell portable ACs can accumulate 1–3 litres of condensate per hour in humid conditions.

  4. Refit the drain cap securely

Push or screw the drain cap back in firmly before restarting.
A loose cap causes water to drip from the base during normal operation.

  5. Connect the continuous drain hose

Honeywell portable ACs include a drain hose adapter.
Attach the hose to the drain port and run it downhill to a floor drain, bucket, or sink.
With continuous drainage active, FL will not trigger again.

  6. Ensure the hose descends continuously

Gravity drainage requires an unbroken downward slope from the drain port to the drainage destination.
A hose with any upward section will trap water and the tank will fill again.
