P1

Midea Portable Air Conditioner

Severity: Minor

What it means

Midea portable AC error P1 means the internal condensate water tank is full and the unit has stopped cooling.
Drain the tank via the rear drain port and consider connecting the continuous drain hose to prevent recurrence.

How to Fix It

  1. Switch off before draining

Turn off the Midea portable AC at the unit before opening the drain port to prevent water spills inside the unit.

  2. Place a container under the rear drain port

Locate the drain port at the rear or base of the unit.
Position a shallow container under it — the tank can hold 1–2 litres depending on the model.

  3. Remove the drain cap and empty the tank

Twist or pull out the drain cap and allow all water to drain into the container.
Tilt the unit slightly forward to ensure full drainage.

  4. Refit the drain cap securely

Replace and firmly seal the drain cap.
A loose cap allows water to drip from the base during operation.

  5. Connect the continuous drainage hose

Midea portable ACs include a drain hose fitting.
Connect the hose to the drain port and run it to a floor drain, bucket, or sink.
Ensure the hose descends continuously from the unit to the drain point.

Frequently Asked Questions

Midea portable AC P1 immediately after draining — what to check?

Check the drain cap is fully seated.
Also confirm the float switch inside the tank is not stuck in the raised position — rinse the drain area with water to free any stuck float.

Midea portable AC P1 appearing every few hours — normal?

In high humidity (above 70% RH) this is normal.
The unit is collecting a large amount of water.
Set up continuous drainage to eliminate the interruptions.

How is Midea portable AC P1 different from a dehumidifier FL error?

Both P1 and FL mean a full water collection tank — the difference is only the error code name used by the brand.
The fix is identical: empty the tank and optionally set up continuous drainage.
