Er2

Ninja Foodi Pressure Cooker

Severity: Moderate

What it means

Er2 means the Ninja Foodi's pressure sensor has reported a fault.
The cooker cannot confirm whether pressure inside the pot is at a safe level, so it stops operation as a precaution.
This is most often triggered by a dirty or blocked pressure sensor port.

Affected Models

  • Ninja Foodi OP300
  • Ninja Foodi OP400
  • Ninja Foodi OP500
  • Ninja Foodi OL500

How to Fix It

  1. Release pressure and unplug

If the unit is pressurised, use the Quick Release valve to vent steam safely.
Press Cancel, then unplug the Ninja Foodi and wait 10 minutes before proceeding.

  2. Clean the pressure sensor port

The pressure sensor is a small opening on the underside of the pressure lid or inside the pot rim.
Use a toothpick or soft brush to gently clear any dried food particles or grease from the sensor port.
Rinse the lid under warm water and dry thoroughly.

  3. Check the sealing ring

A cracked or deformed sealing ring can cause irregular pressure readings, which the sensor interprets as a fault.
Remove the sealing ring, inspect it, and replace if damaged.
Reseat it firmly around the lid groove if it is in good condition.

  4. Inspect the pressure valve

Make sure the pressure release valve moves freely and is not stuck or blocked.
Remove it, rinse under warm water, and reattach.
A sticky valve can cause pressure to build erratically, triggering Er2.

  5. Power reset and test

Plug back in and run a test cycle with 1 cup of water.
If Er2 does not return, the issue was a dirty sensor.
If it returns, contact Ninja support as the pressure sensor may need replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Er2 appear even when the lid is sealed correctly?

Yes.
Er2 is a sensor fault code, not a lid-detection code.
Even with a properly sealed lid, a clogged or malfunctioning pressure sensor will trigger Er2.
Cleaning the sensor port usually resolves it.
