Er4
Ninja Foodi Pressure Cooker
Severity: ModerateWhat it means
Er4 means the Ninja Foodi detected an unsafe condition related to the lid or its pressure containment system.
The unit stops cooking to prevent pressure from building in an uncontrolled way.
It is most commonly caused by the pressure lid not being fully locked or the sealing ring being displaced.
Affected Models

- Ninja Foodi OP400
- Ninja Foodi OP500
How to Fix It
-
Remove and relock the pressure lid
Take the pressure lid completely off the unit.
Place it back on and turn it firmly clockwise until the lid arrow aligns with the locked marker.
The lid should seat with a positive click.
Do not attempt to start a pressure program if the lid feels loose. -
Check and reseat the sealing ring
Remove the sealing ring from inside the pressure lid.
Inspect it for tears, cracks, or distortion.
Press it firmly back into the silicone ring groove all the way around the lid.
A partially seated ring is a common cause of Er4. -
Inspect the lid locking mechanism
Look at the locking tabs on the lid and the corresponding slots on the unit rim.
Food debris can lodge in the locking slots and prevent the lid from locking fully.
Clean the slots with a damp cloth or soft brush. -
Power reset
After addressing the lid, press Cancel, unplug the unit for 3 minutes, then plug back in.
Attempt a short pressure cook cycle with 1 cup of water to confirm Er4 does not reappear.

If the lid physically locks but Er4 persists, the lid sensor or locking switch inside the rim may be dirty or faulty.
