E08

Epson Projector

Severity: Critical

What it means

Epson projector error E08 means the lamp has failed or is not seated correctly in its housing.
Turn the projector off and let it cool fully before checking the lamp compartment.

How to Fix It

  1. Allow the projector to cool completely

Epson projector lamps run at very high temperatures.
Before opening the lamp compartment, power off the projector and wait at least 30 minutes.
Touching a hot lamp will damage it and can cause burns.

  2. Check the lamp door and reseat the lamp

Open the lamp door panel (usually on the bottom or side of the projector).
Remove the lamp unit by unscrewing the retention screw, pull it out, and reinsert it firmly.
A partially seated lamp causes E08.

  3. Check the lamp hours counter

Press Menu > Info > Lamp Hours on the projector to check lamp usage.
Epson lamps typically last 3,000–6,000 hours depending on mode.
If the lamp is near or over this figure, it needs replacing.

  4. Replace the lamp

Order an OEM or compatible replacement lamp for your specific Epson model (e.g. ELPLP96 for the EH-TW series).
Install it in the housing, tighten the retention screw, and reset the lamp hours counter.

  5. Reset the lamp hours after replacement

After fitting a new lamp, press Menu > Reset > Reset Lamp Hours and confirm.
If you skip this step, the projector may continue to show lamp warnings or shut down prematurely.

  6. Contact Epson support if the error persists

If E08 appears with a brand-new lamp that is fully seated, the lamp driver board or lamp power circuit may have failed.
Contact Epson support or an authorised repair centre.
