Lamp Error
Optoma Projector
Severity: CriticalWhat it means
Optoma projector lamp error or a lit LAMP indicator means the lamp has failed or reached end of life.
Allow the projector to cool, replace the lamp module, and reset the lamp hours in the menu.
How to Fix It
-
Power off and cool the projector
Press the Power button and wait at least 30 minutes before opening the lamp compartment.
Optoma lamp modules operate at high temperatures and must be fully cool before handling. -
Check lamp hours
Press Menu > Info > Lamp Hours to check usage.
Optoma lamps typically last 3,500–5,000 hours in Normal mode.
A lamp near or at its rated hours requires immediate replacement. -
Reseat the lamp module
Open the lamp door (usually on the top or bottom of the projector).
Unscrew the retention screw, slide out the lamp handle, remove and reinsert the lamp firmly.
A loose lamp triggers the LAMP error. -
Install a replacement lamp
Search your Optoma model number to find the correct replacement lamp (e.g. BL-FU195A for the HD27 series).
Install the lamp, tighten the retention screw, close the door, and reset the lamp hours counter. -
Reset the lamp hours counter
Press Menu > Setup > Advanced > Lamp Hours Reset and confirm.
Without resetting the counter, lamp warnings will continue to appear even after a successful lamp replacement. -
Seek service if error persists with a new lamp
If the LAMP error continues after fitting a correctly installed new lamp, the lamp driver board has likely failed.
