No Signal

Optoma Projector

Severity: Moderate

What it means

Optoma projector No Signal means the selected input is receiving no video.
Check the correct input is selected, the cable is firmly connected, and the source device is on and actively outputting video.

How to Fix It

  1. Check the source device is on and active

Ensure the device connected to the projector (PC, laptop, streaming box) is powered on and not in sleep or screen-off mode.
A sleeping device produces no video signal.

  2. Select the correct input on the projector

Press the Source button on the Optoma remote and cycle through HDMI 1, HDMI 2, VGA, and other available inputs.
The selected input must match the physical cable connection.

  3. Reseat the HDMI or VGA cable

Disconnect the cable from both the projector and the source device.
Wait 10 seconds and reconnect both ends firmly.
Loose connections are the number one cause of No Signal.

  4. Enable external display on a laptop

On Windows: press Win + P and select Duplicate or Extend.
On Mac: open System Settings > Displays and enable the extended display.
Some laptops output only to their internal screen unless prompted.

  5. Try a different cable and port

Swap the current HDMI cable for a known-working replacement.
If the projector has a second HDMI input, try using that port.
This identifies whether the fault is in the cable or a specific projector port.

  6. Set source resolution to 1080p 60Hz

If the source device is outputting a resolution or refresh rate beyond the projector spec (e.g. 4K 120Hz on a 1080p projector), No Signal can result.
Reduce the resolution to 1920x1080 at 60Hz.
