Low Battery

SimpliSafe Security Alarm

Severity: Minor

What it means

SimpliSafe low battery alerts appear in the app and on the keypad for each device needing attention.
Most entry sensors use a CR2032 battery, motion sensors use CR123A or AA batteries, and keypads use 4 AA batteries.

How to Fix It

  1. Identify the low battery device in the app

Open the SimpliSafe app, go to My System > Devices.
Devices with low batteries are flagged with a low battery warning icon.
Note which sensor or device needs attention.

  2. Replace entry sensor batteries (CR2032)

SimpliSafe entry sensors (door and window contacts) use a single CR2032 3V coin cell battery.
Slide the back cover off, remove the old battery, and press in a fresh CR2032 with the positive (+) side facing up.

  3. Replace motion sensor batteries

SimpliSafe motion sensors typically use 2 CR123A lithium batteries.
Open the front cover by pressing the release tab, remove both old batteries, and insert fresh CR123A batteries with correct polarity.

  4. Replace keypad batteries (AA x4)

Open the battery compartment on the back of the SimpliSafe keypad and replace all 4 AA batteries.
Do not mix old and new batteries — replace all four at the same time.

  5. Replace the smoke or CO detector battery

SimpliSafe smoke and CO detectors use a CR123A battery.
Open the detector cover, replace the battery, and close the cover firmly.

  6. Verify the battery replacement in the app

After replacing the battery, trigger the sensor (open the door, walk past the motion sensor) and check the app.
The low battery flag should clear within 24 hours of a successful replacement.
