Bridge Offline
Nuki Smart Lock
Severity: ModerateWhat it means
A Nuki Bridge offline status means the bridge has lost connection to your Wi-Fi or to the Nuki cloud.
Most cases are resolved by power-cycling the bridge and verifying Wi-Fi signal strength.
Affected Models
- Nuki Bridge
- Nuki Bridge 2.0
- Nuki Smart Lock 3.0 Pro (built-in Wi-Fi)
- Nuki Smart Lock 4.0 Pro (built-in Wi-Fi)
Common Causes
- Bridge unplugged or power adapter loose
- Wi-Fi signal too weak at the bridge location
- Wi-Fi password changed and the bridge has stale credentials
- Router rebooted and the bridge did not reconnect
- Bridge firmware out of date
How to Fix It
-
Check the bridge LED.
Look at the LED on the bridge.
A solid blue LED means connected.
A red or off LED means disconnected.
The exact pattern and meaning is in your manual. -
Power-cycle the bridge.
Unplug the bridge from the wall socket for 30 seconds, then plug back in.
Wait 2 minutes for it to fully reconnect.
This resolves most transient offline issues. -
Verify Wi-Fi signal at the bridge.
The bridge needs reasonable Wi-Fi signal at its socket location.
If the bridge is far from your router, try moving it closer or adding a Wi-Fi extender between the router and the bridge. -
Re-add the bridge after a Wi-Fi password change.
If you changed your Wi-Fi password, the bridge has stale credentials and cannot reconnect.
Delete the bridge in the Nuki app and add it again, entering the new password during setup. -
Update bridge firmware.
Open the Nuki app and check for bridge firmware updates.
Older firmware can cause connectivity issues with modern routers.
When to Call a Professional
Most bridge offline issues are user-fixable.
If a freshly set up bridge cannot connect at all, Nuki support can verify the bridge identity and replace it if faulty.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a Nuki Bridge with a Nuki Smart Lock 3.0 Pro or 4.0?
No. The Pro models have Wi-Fi built in and connect directly to your home network without a bridge. The standard 3.0 model still needs the bridge for remote control.
Why does my Nuki Bridge keep going offline every few days?
Usually weak Wi-Fi signal or a router that periodically resets the connection. Move the bridge closer to the router, or add a Wi-Fi extender. Also check that your router is not on a battery-saver schedule.
