E10

AEG Washing Machine

Severity: Moderate

What it means

AEG Error E10 means the machine timed out waiting for water.
Check that both water taps are open, the hoses are not kinked, and the inlet mesh filters are clean.

How to Fix It

  1. Open the water supply taps fully

Locate the hot and cold taps behind the machine.
    Both must be fully open.
A tap that is only partially open reduces water pressure and triggers E10.

  2. Check the inlet hoses for kinks

Inspect both inlet hoses from the tap to the machine.
Straighten any kinks or tight bends.
Kinks are common when the machine has been pushed back against a wall.

  3. Clean the inlet mesh filters

    Turn off the water taps.
Unscrew the inlet hoses from the back of the machine.
Inside each port you will find a small mesh filter.
Remove with pliers, rinse under water, and refit.

  4. Check your home water pressure

Run the tap connected to the washer supply line.
    The flow should be strong.
AEG washing machines require a minimum dynamic water pressure of 0.05 MPa (0.5 bar).

  5. Test the inlet solenoid valve

If the above checks pass and E10 persists, the water inlet solenoid valve may be faulty.
A technician can test it with a multimeter.
    A failed valve needs replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Error E10 mean on an AEG washing machine?

E10 indicates that the drum failed to fill with water within the expected time.
The cause is usually a supply issue — closed tap, kinked hose, or blocked mesh filter.

Can a frozen pipe cause AEG Error E10 in winter?

Yes — in very cold weather, the supply pipe to the washing machine can freeze.
Check that the supply pipe is not frozen before investigating other causes.

How do I reset AEG Error E10?

After fixing the water supply issue, press and hold the START/PAUSE button for 3 seconds to cancel the cycle, then restart a new programme.
E10 will clear if water now enters normally.
