E17

Siemens Washing Machine

Severity: Moderate

What it means

Siemens Error E17 means the drum did not fill within the expected time.
Check both water supply taps are fully open, hoses are not kinked, and inlet filters are clean.

How to Fix It

  1. Open the water supply taps

Both hot and cold supply taps behind the machine must be fully open.
Even a tap that appears open but is only partially turned can reduce pressure enough to trigger E17.

  2. Check the inlet hoses

Inspect both hoses for kinks, sharp bends, or compression behind the machine.
    Straighten any restricted sections.

  3. Clean the inlet mesh filters

    Turn off the water taps.
Unscrew the inlet hoses from the back ports of the machine.
Use pliers to remove the mesh filter screens from each port.
Rinse under running water and refit.

  4. Check water pressure

Siemens washers require a minimum water pressure of about 0.5 bar.
If your home water pressure is very low, fill times will exceed the timeout and trigger E17.

  5. Test the aquastop hose

Siemens washers often use an AquaStop safety hose with a built-in solenoid.
If the hose has tripped its internal shutoff (after a leak event), no water will enter.
    Replace the AquaStop hose.

Frequently Asked Questions

What causes Siemens Error E17?

E17 is triggered when the machine cannot fill the drum within the allowed time.
The most common causes are closed supply taps, a kinked hose, a blocked mesh filter, or a tripped AquaStop hose.

What is an AquaStop hose on a Siemens washing machine?

AquaStop is a safety hose with a built-in valve that shuts off water if the outer hose jacket is wet (indicating a leak).
Once tripped, the hose must be replaced — it cannot be reset.

How do I reset Siemens Error E17?

After fixing the water supply, select a programme and press START.
The machine will attempt to fill.
If it fills normally, E17 will not reappear.
