Err
Omron Blood Pressure Monitor
Severity: MinorWhat it means
Err (or ERR) is a general error meaning the monitor could not complete the measurement.
It is usually caused by movement, a loose cuff, or a brief hardware glitch.
Removing the batteries and restarting often clears it.
Affected Models
- Omron M2
- Omron M3
- Omron M6
- Omron HEM-7120
- Omron Complete
- Most Omron upper-arm monitors
Common Causes
- Arm movement during measurement
- Cuff not seated correctly
- Low or failing batteries
- Internal sensor glitch
- Extreme temperature — monitor too cold or too hot
How to Fix It
-
Remove the batteries for 30 seconds, then reinsert.
This resets the monitor's internal memory and clears most transient errors.
-
Re-apply the cuff carefully and try again.
Make sure the tube is at the inside of your arm and the cuff edge is 1–2 cm above the elbow.
-
Replace the batteries if they are old.
Weak batteries cause unreliable pump pressure, leading to Err.
Omron recommends replacing batteries when the low-battery indicator appears — or preemptively every 6 months. -
Bring the monitor to room temperature.
Omron monitors are rated for use at 10–40°C.
If it was left in a cold car or a hot room, let it normalise first. -
If Err persists after all the above, contact Omron support.
Omron offers a 3–5 year warranty on most monitors.
A persistent Err with fresh batteries may indicate an internal fault.
Frequently Asked Questions
My Omron shows Err every single time — is it broken?
It may be.
If new batteries, correct cuff technique, and a battery reset do not fix it, the internal pump or pressure sensor may have failed.
